3D Character Modeling I – II

lecturer: Mgr. art. Helena Lukášová, ArtD.

This course is an introduction to digital 3d character modeling. Students learn foundation of the modeling techniques in 3ds Max and Mudbox. Other modeling software such as Cinema 4D, Maya and Blender are also available. Advanced students work on individual assignments.

First the composition of elements - light, objects and space relations in 3d scenes are explored. Further the character modeling is explained through principles of human anatomy. Students develop stylized characters based on their own concepts. The goal is to demonstrate creative potential of 3d modeling, to encourage students to use this knowledge in other fields such as graphic design or animation.

This course is complementary with game design courses available at the faculty. Students also have the opportunity to materialize their models on Stratasys Fortus 250 3d printer.
